What Is the SurfPrep Hand Sanding Block?
The SurfPrep hand sanding block is a 3" x 4" hand tool designed to be used with SurfPrep 3" x 4" film and foam abrasives. It gives you a firm, controlled backing surface for hand sanding jobs where a power sander can't get to or where you need direct manual control.
Even in the shops with full-power sanding equipment, hand sanding is still necessary. Where profiles, curved edges, inside corners, and detail work that a machine cannot reproduce are required, direct control is required. The SurfPrep hand sanding block for wood is constructed with the same abrasive grade as the SurfPrep power sanding range, scaled for hand-controlled use.

When to Use a Hand Sanding Block
A sanding hand block is the right tool required when:

- Detail Work—needs feedback directly from the surface, knowing exactly how much pressure is being applied and where.
- Between-coat sanding on furniture or cabinetry where a power tool can cut the finish.
- Touch-up and spot sanding after power sanding to address areas the machine missed or over-cut
