Why Buy Your Sanding Kit from Surf Prep

Designed to last 2,000–3,000 hours, this brushless outer-runner motor

The brushless outer-runner motor of the Electric Ray is designed to last 2,000–3,000 hours of active operation while remaining cool and silent. Compared to traditional motors, larger magnets produce more torque, and an integrated spindle fan keeps bearings cool over extended periods of time.

Abrasives for Every Stage that Win Awards

ProFoam, Blizzard Film, Red Riptide, White Lightning paper, Shredder Screen, and non-woven discs are all included in every sanding kit. Every kind of abrasive is designed for a particular step, from between-coat finishing to aggressive stock removal. Typically, SurfPrep's foam abrasives eliminate 50–70% of hand sanding per project by conforming to profiles and contours.

Just one kit. Each Stage. No swapping of tools.

Every type of abrasive required for everything from first-pass stock removal to final between-coat finishing is included in a SurfPrep sanding system package. No mid-job gaps, no separate orders. Your workflow can continue uninterrupted from raw wood to a surface that is suitable for finishing with just one full sanding kit

 Vacuum-Ready Right Away

This collection's sanders are all vacuum-compatible right out of the box. Combine with a conventional shop vacuum or a SurfPrep HEPA dust extractor to collect dust at the source, keeping surfaces clean for the subsequent coat and satisfying OSHA air quality regulations on commercial construction sites.

Note: a respirator is required if a vacuum is not being used. Particles can return to the surface and enter the air when sanding without extracting dust.

How to Choose the Right Sanding System Kit

By Power Type: Electric vs. Pneumatic

Electric Ray kits operate on 110V; they are self-contained, require no compressor, and are perfect for quiet, all-day shop use. Because they are lightweight, Pneumatic Storm and Trident kits are ideal for production facilities that already use compressed air. Note: Before making a purchase, check your PSI and CFM output because pneumatic sanding tools demand a powerful air compressor.

By Sander Size

Tight-area work, precise finishing, and precision sanding are all handled by the 3" × 4" Electric Ray. For flat surface production sanding, when covering speed is crucial, the 5" and 6" models are designed. The 6" Electric Ray is the best choice for high-pressure, high-demand applications because of its dual-chambered airflow mechanism.

By Orbit Size

Choose 3/16” for faster stock removal and early-stage sanding. Choose 3/32” for fine between-coat finishing.

By User

Are you new to orbital sanders or drywall sanding tools? The most sensible place to start is with the 3" × 4" Electric Ray kit. The 5" or 6" versions are particularly advantageous for high-volume manufacturing shops that require tools for sanding at scale.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s included in a SurfPrep sanding system kit?

A hook-and-loop backup pad, an electric or pneumatic SurfPrep sander tool, and a complete abrasive variety pack comprising ProFoam, Blizzard Film, Red Riptide, White Lightning paper, Shredder Screen, and non-woven discs in various grits are all included in each kit. Everything was required to begin sanding right away.

What’s the difference between the Electric Ray and the Storm or Trident pneumatic kits?

Electric Ray kits don't need a compressor and operate at 110V. Because they are lighter, the Storm and Trident pneumatic kits are ideal for industrial facilities that currently use compressed air. Before making a purchase, check the PSI and CFM output of your setup because pneumatic sanding tools demand a powerful compressor.

Which orbit size should I choose — 3/32” or 3/16”?

The 3/16" orbit works well for forceful early-stage sanding and eliminates material more quickly. For between-coat finishing, the 3/32" orbit creates a sharper scratch pattern. For most pros, the 3/16" is the better starting option if your task involves both stages.

Are SurfPrep sanding kits vacuum-compatible?

Indeed. This set of sander tools is all vacuum-ready. When combined with a regular shop vacuum or SurfPrep HEPA dust extractor, it meets the OSHA air quality standards on commercial job sites, keeps the surface clean in between coats, and collects dust at its source.

Is there a warranty on SurfPrep sanding system kits?

A one-year manufacturer's guarantee on parts and labor is included with every SurfPrep sander. To enable coverage, register your product on the SurfPrep website.
