Custom Control. Smoother Sanding. Smarter Solutions.
Whether you’re tackling curves, contours, profiles, or flat surfaces, SurfPrep Interface Pads give you the flexibility and control you need to get the perfect finish—every time.
Why Use an Interface Pad?
Interface pads are a must-have when using non-foam abrasives like film, screen, or paper. They add a cushioning layer between your backup pad and the abrasive, reducing heat transfer, protecting your tool, and allowing better movement around edges, moldings, and irregular shapes.
Protect Your Tools
Without an interface pad, heat buildup from sanding can melt the hooks on your backup pad—costing you more in replacements. Interface pads absorb that heat and take the wear, so your backup pad doesn’t have to.
Interface Pad Options: multiple densities and thicknesses—so you’re ready for anything:
-
✅ Standard Interface Pad (Soft Grey) – Super flexible for moldings, profiles, and detailed work.
-
✅ Medium-Dense Pad – A bit firmer for more aggressive or even finishes.
-
✅ 7mm & 15mm Firm Pads – For added flexibility or more cushion depending on your application.
Perfect for Profile Work
Need to get into tight areas like spindles or furniture legs? Pair our 7mm pad with a J-Hook Backup Pad and offset it slightly—this gives you reach and grip for delicate or detailed sanding.
Works Best With:
✔️ Film, Screen, & Paper Abrasives
✔️ Any surface requiring flexibility and protection
Pro Tip:
- J-Hook Backup Pad provides a stronger grip for interface pads, keeping them securely in place during heavy sanding or when working on detailed surfaces.
- Foam abrasives don’t require an interface pad—but when using any flat abrasive, interface pads are your best friend. They help your abrasives last longer, keep your sander cooler, and give you better finishes with less vibration.
